| The
collection of paintings represents 5 centuries of Art. Flemish and
Italians masters from the 15th to the 19th century, as well as several
oil paintings by the two sons of Bruegel, a school of Rembrandt,
Guardi,Fantin-Latour, Ensor, or Van Gogh. From the 20th c., Signac,
Van Dongen, Foujita, Ernst, and the Belgian school of Permeke, R.
Wouters, G. Desmet and others. Van Buuren was the only patron of
van de Woestyne, the precursor of surrealism and the house possesses
32 of his paintings. Several of the world's great museums received
works of art from van Buuren, who knew artists, curators, experts
and sellers personally.
